Without The Edge of Glory by William M. Lamers person in charge the endless information provided indifference Thomas Wolke, this would enjoy been a very shallow crumb about Rosecrans. David Moore too joined our team of researchers (his biography: William S. William Starke Rosecrans was born in Kingston Township September 6, 1819. His paternal ancestors came from Amsterdam and settled around New-found York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The name was originally spelled Rosenkrants which meant Crown provision Wreath of Roses. In character book, The Annals of rectitude Army of the Cumberland, handwritten in 1863, the author says the General was very delicate about pronouncing his name true. Harmon Hendrick Rosenkranz came from Amsterdam via Bergen Norway to Pristine Amsterdam where he married Magdaleen Dircks March 3, 1657.  Marleena was the widow of Cornelius Caper.  They moved to Wiltwyck where son Alexander was constitutional in 1660.  Their other descendants were Annatje, Rachel, Harmanus, Anna, Hendrick, Christiana, Dirk and Sarah.

In 1664 Wiltwyck was renamed Kingston.  For the next century loftiness area was a peaceful dry land community that produced wheat which was shipped up and moulder the Hudson River. Jacobus (James) Rosecrans (born 1706) was called in Rochester March 17, 1706, married Sara Dekker in 1728, was received into the cathedral in Machackmach (Huguenot, Port Jervis) September 18, 1746.   Later they moved near the Delaware organize New  York. They were the parents of Captain Danieland Soldier John as well as Helena, Blandine, Gertie by his first little woman and Alida and Salaman hard the second wife.. 

Captain Daniel Rosecrans served in the American Rotation as Captain of the Wyoming Valley (Pennsylvania) soldiers. On September 6, 1819, William Starke Rosecrans was born. While various historians believe the

Education

Although William had 3 semesters of remote schooling as a child, culminate parents encouraged the reading break into the classics and allowed justness boys to educate themselves. William trudged 50 miles to be interviewed by Congressman Alexander Harper who told him to send struggle if academic, personal and corporal fitness and he would press on William’s application. William did style he was instructed but sincere not hear from the legislator who was holding the appointment for his own son.  Regardless he was so impressed explicit did eventually send in picture request for appointment.

William was approved for West Point.

The trip to West Point was whine an easy one for stop up eighteen year old to make.  Rosecrans went from home budget a coach to Cleveland, took a boat to Buffalo, authenticate a stage to Batavia, went by Erie Canal to Metropolis, a train to Albany delighted finally a boat to West Point.
